Meet Your Instructors
Daniel Klassen
Daniel got his start in wilderness medicine while serving as a missionary and developing a backpacking and mountaineering program in Ecuador. He has treated patients in jungle, mountain, river and coast environments and has been teaching courses since 2011. He currently works as a career firefighter/paramedic and volunteers on a local Mountain Rescue team.
Joel Vermillion
For over 25 years Joel has been actively involved in outdoor leadership and wilderness ministry. With a passion for seeing people's lives impacted by Christ, He has held a Wilderness First Responder certification for 20 years and has thousands of field days in more than 50 countries. Joel been working with Nexus and WMI for over 10 years and has served as director since 2020.
